Directions to Deer Island

From St. John New Brunswick: head West on Highway #1. You will travel approximatly 70 km to exit 43 for St. George and Deer Island. From there follow the road signs on Route 172 South to the two Deer Island Ferries.  One ferry every thirty minutes if both are in operation. (It's approximately a 12-15 minute drive to the ferries and a 20 minute crossing to Deer Island)

From St. Stephen: head east on Highway #1. Drive approximatly 43 km to exit 43 for St. George and Deer Island. From exit 43 follow route 172 South to Deer Island Ferries (approximately a 12-15 minute drive)

Once on Deer Island: It's approximately an eight to ten minute drive to Leonardville.  The road (route 772) is hilly and winding with beautiful scenic vistas along the way, for instance, when you pass "Rainbow nets and rigging" in Lords Cove, the road veers sharp right and up hill (on the left will be the Lords Cove Wharf and in the distance is the Richardson Wharf) continue on this main road through Lords Cove. You will pass the Lords Cove Church of Christ and Sunday school on the left and as you continue on your winding journey you go thru Richardsonville harbour and as you continue, shortly thereafter you pass two small lakes, one on the left and the next on your right...keep going past the larger lake till you come to the bottom of a hill where you have to turn left or right at the yield sign ...carefully turn to the left for Leonardville which is about another mile drive.  As you continue thru the village you pass the large public wharf where fishing vessels are tied, go about another 500 feet past that and there on your right will be 1745, "The Clines". It's the white house on the hill with a steep driveway at the narrowest part of the road. It would be best to park your vehicle closer to the public wharf on the main road about 100' from the Cline's driveway.  THIS IS PRIVATE PROPERTY AND ACCESSIBLE FOR GAMES BY INVITATION ONLY.

Coastal Action Paintball has multiple prepared and semi prepared paintball areas. THERE IS NO CHARGE TO PLAY AT ANY OF OUR PLAYING AREAS. We understand that paintball costs enough already, roughly - for a day of playing therefore all of CAP's games are free and for recreation only. There are no prizes and no cover charge.

Our games aren't pro tournaments they're military simulation (milsim) and scenario games, these types of games don't restrict us to fields that need hundreds of man-hours to prepare. We are determined to see the game of paintball flourish in the area and will do all we can to make your experience fun and exciting.

Deer Island Areas

CAP has multiple prepared and unprepared areas on Deer Island that all provide a unique and incredible experience. The orange dot on the map to the left is "Isle O' Fury" Island, the light blue and black dots are the "Jungle-Brook" speedball course and the Ho - Chi - Minh Trail playing area. The blue dot is a large high grassed field with an old foundation in the middle.  The red dot is roughly 20 acres of trails and small hills and woods. The yellow dot is a series of roads and fields roughly 60 acres mostly clear cut with wood stands. The brown dot is a wooded penisula with atv and deer trails running trough it and the Pink dot is a large multiple sand pit area.

Ilse o' Fury

The Isle O' Fury area is located on rugged Bar Island, offshore of Leonardville Deer Island. Bar Island is roughly 800 yards long and 200 yards wide. Beached at the northern end of the island are several fishing boats placed at the high water mark to spend their last days, they make great bunkers! There is an old foundation in the field to the south of the boats and slightly uphill, to the east of the foundation is a steep incline to a rock capped hill and just yards to the west is a collapsed barn. There is a dirt road running the length of the island and several man made trails and deer trails as well. At the southern end of the island is a man made base of blow downs and brush surrounded by defensive bunkers as well as a beach lookout to the west.

Pennfield UNDERGROUND BUNKERS!!!!

The bunkers are cement military bunkers covered by earth and trees with one main opening in each and the opening is large enogh to drive a truck into! The far left and right bunkers are roughly 1000 feet appart and 2000 feet from the runway.

The bunkers were once part of the Pennfield Airbase used to train air-crews from 1943-45. I've been told that there are other interesting military related secrets in the area.
